The Florida mimimun wage hikes to $7.31/hour on June 1, 2011.
Florida voters passed a consititutional amendment in 2004 that requires annual review of the state minimum wage by the Agency for Workforce Innovation using an established formula. The raise covers all workers currently covered by the Federal minimum wage law, currently at $7.25/hour. As the Florida wage will exceed the Federal standard on June 1, the new Florida rate will govern.
As strategic Orlando Human Resources consultants and business advisors, we do our best to keep our clients and general public current on new employment issues, so please take note of this important change in the minimum wage. Six cents an hour may not seem like much, but a government audit on pay practices is no fun so we recommend payroll departments take note.
